Claire is doing amazing!

Claire has been practicing her tummy time, "prone" position, along with rolling over and had a great playtime appointment with Early Childhood Development on Friday. She rolled over from her tummy to her back for the first time and can now hold her "prone" position for a longer time. Her dog brother Joe turned 9 on Thursday. Today she had a formal baptism at St James Catholic Church. She weighs just under 11 lbs and we know she will surpass it by her 4 month appointment with her Pediatrician this Friday the 27th which is also her 4 month birthday. She has been without her feeding tube since Monday, Feb 9th!

Halleluiah!
Claire had been struggling with a cold this past week and had a hard time breathing since her nostrils are so small and with mucus and a tube in there she pretty much only had one functioning side of her nose. I could tell that she was uncomfortable especially eating. She was doing better a few days last week and last weekend it seemed to have worsened. She made the decision for us that she did not want her feeding tube anymore! So she coughed and vomited it out early Monday morning. We decided to wait about putting it back in since she was having such a problem breathing with her runny nose. So she ended up taking two full 4 ounce bottles that morning. I knew if she could make it past the first 24 hours that she could probably keep it out and keep up her stamina for all her feedings. She even does great at night now. Before removing her tube we could barley get her to take 1-2 ounces and have to put over half of her bottle down her feeding tube. Today is Friday and she has had it out for 4 full days now and is doing great! Our goal was to have her feeding out by the end of the month when she turned 4 months, so to have it out now we are thrilled! She had a doctors appointment on Tuesday to get her blood pressure checked since she had been off of her medicine to lower her blood pressure after surgery (Propranolol). They said that her blood pressure was normal to high and that they were just going to re-check it in a month. She is now 10lbs 2 ounces and climbing. We are so proud of her recent progress with feeding and weight gain.

Claire is getting stronger everyday!
Our old neighbor took this professional picture. Her photography company is Imagery Photography and their website is www.photosbyimagery.com I highly recommend her for weddings, seniors, and families etc!

Claire went to her cardiologist appointment on Monday and Dr Fletcher said that she looked great! Her blood pressures were good with a slight difference between uppers and lowers and they took her off of her two heart medicines (Propranolol & Lasix). They are going to call us back next week to check her blood pressure after being off the medicine for a week. Claire took a full feed from her bottle again Tues night. I think is is getting much stronger now that her cold is gone. We thought we saw some signs of Reflux (coughing, gargling, and arching her back during feeding) so we had her pediatrician prescribe an antacid medicine called Axid. Hopefully this will help her feedings get stronger and more consistent so that she can get rid of her NG tube before she turns 4 months at the end of the month! She started cooing, has been getting better at playing with her toys and working on her head control.
