Claire is 5 months!

Claire turned 5 months on Friday! It is hard to believe she is this old and wearing 3-6 month old clothes too. She can now rollover consistently from her stomach to her back. She favors one side and still does not like being on her stomach very much. She is transfering objects from hand to hand and throwing her toys. I have been hearing her talk in more consonants. I hear more g's, b's, and p's. She will even sputter a bit and loves to play with her feet.

Happy St Pats and Some Great News!

I call this one the green monster

Claire is confused which holiday it is....

Claire makes her dog brother Joe wear the bunny ears!

Claire also makes Grandpa Dalrymple wear the bunny ears!

Claire is now 12 lbs! She has started banging her toys on the table, giggles, and is extremely talkative. I don't think we told a lot of people about our scare that the doctors thought that Claire had Cystic Fibrosis by the way she scored on a repeat newborn screening. We found out as we got Claire home from the hospital that she doesn't have Cystic Fibrosis but does has the defective gene of Cystic Fibrosis. Finally after waiting two months to get in to see a Genetic Dr. we figured out that only I have the defective deltaF508 mutation for Cystic Fibrosis and and we were relieved to know that we can never pass on Cystic Fibrosis to subsequent children. They also tested Claire negative for Turner's Syndrome which is a common genetic disorder with her heart condition. It is good to know that we are all healthy and safe from both of these genetic disorders.

Claire playing at home

Claire likes playing in her bumbo seat!

Grandpa McKinney took a nap with Claire.

Claire found a new toy..... Its the trash can in our office

You guessed it... Joe was supervising Claire's playtime again!

Claire had a blood pressure check today and after trying a few times the nurses finally got a good blood pressure. We are not sure why it is so hard to read on her. I can only assume she has smaller blood vessels. Her doctor ordered a full echo to make sure that her heart was still doing great and said we have nothing to worry about. Now she does not have to go back to her cardiologist until late August. She doesn't need to see her neurologist or pediatrician until she is 6 months old. Claire now weighs over 11 lbs 6 ounces and has had her feeding tube out for over 5 weeks. She has started trying to sit up and pull herself up and loves her bumbo seat. We are still working on rolling over consistently, eating rice cereal, talking in more consonant sounds, and transferring objects from hand to hand.

4 Months and Counting!

Claire had a great 4 month appointment on Friday and now weighs 11 lbs 4 ounces. I think that puts her around the 6th percentile. She was born in the 20th percentile for weight and her pediatrician said that would put her at 12 lbs now so she is not that far behind for her weight. As far as motor skills go Claire impressed her doctor and he said she is right on target and even a little ahead of her 4 month milestones! We are so excited that she is doing so good. On Saturday we started her on rice cereal at nights.
