Claire is Crawling!

Claire just started crawling on all fours this week! She is taking more milk now that her sore throat seems to be gone. She is drooling and having a runnier nose than normal so I think she is teething even though I can't feel any teeth. I could be crazy though, I seriously thought she was teething when she was 4 months old and she still has no teeth. We celebrated Claire's cousin Nora's Baptism last Sunday and went to the Drive through Zoo near Ashland with Claire this weekend. I think what she liked most was being out of her car seat and sticking her head out the window. We are headed out of town for a week to visit some family and friends in Indiana for a family reunion and vacation.

Claire continues to amaze us and her doctors with her development. She had 2 great doctors visits this week with her Pediatrician and Neurologist. She weighs 16 lbs 10 oz, which is in the 13th percentile and is 26.5 inches tall (17th percentile). She has had a sore throat from what we think was a viral infection and had stopped drinking milk for a few days. Thank goodness she loves baby food and solid foods. I think right now her favorite foods are Cheerios/Puffs, yogurt, and anything that we are eating or drinking. Oh yah, she also likes Dairy Queen ice cream cakes too, but who doesn't. I learned from our new neurologist, Dr Rhonda Wright, that we need to look at Claire's language development and not motor skills to see how her brain is compensating from her earlier head trauma. So far she is doing great with her language and motor skills for her age. She can army crawl and inch worm herself about 5 ft. She can almost pull herself to stand and likes to jump out of your arms when you are holding her. It is amazing to look back and see how far Claire has come!

I am not really sure who the little boy is that Claire is kissing but thought it was a funny picture. Dad may not think so but she loves to smile and give kisses. She is such a sweetheart!

This week Claire started to put her rolling together and can now roll across the room. I also caught her pushing up on all fours a few times when she was playing. I am looking forward to her 9 month Pediatrician's appointment on the 28th and her first appointment with a new neurologist, Dr. Rhonda Wright, on the 30th. Claire had her first swimming lesson today and did great! We went down a kiddy water slide and put her underwater a few times. She enjoyed it and was really brave!

Claire is doing some really fun things like beginning to crawl and waive. She is starting to be a little more independent and feed herself finger foods and hold her sippy cup. We love to go on walks and swim. I really enjoy hanging out with her this summer! These last few months have just flown by I can't believe she is 8 months already!

Claire is sitting like a pro, eating more grown up baby foods, and loves to play! Her Vtech computer, blocks, and my purse are her favorite toys. She is right around 16 lbs. I can only get her weight from our wii fit scale so it is not as accurate as she hasn't been to any doctors offices since 6 months. Claire is almost 8 months!

Chad, Claire and I went to the zoo. We met up with our friend Claire and her Mom Carrie. We met through mutual friends and the other Claire is 19 months old and had heart surgery when she was first born too. We are praying for the other Claire as she has to go back to Children's Hospital to have a procedure on June 15th and then another heart surgery soon to follow. We had a really fun time at the zoo together! Claire rode the Elephant on the Carousel. I think her favorite parts were the bird exhibit and the petting zoo.
