Still progressing

Claire started her chest percussion treatments (CPT) every two hours where the vibrations loosen the fluid and congestion in her right lung since she weaned herself off the ventilator quicker than normal. They look like she is getting a vibrating back massage and I told them that I was jealous and they could practice on me if needed. I hope she doesn't expect this kind of treatment at home, even though daddy says she is going to get anything she wants. She still has daily head ultrasounds to monitor the bleeding in her brain and measure the amount of blood and how it is being absorbed back into her body (this is a good thing). She also has daily chest x-rays to monitor her lung congestion. She got another bath this morning since the daily ultrasounds have been getting her hair dirty and slimy. They also took out her scalp IV. It broke her father’s heart to see how much hair they had to cut and remove because of the wonderful tape job they did to keep the IV protected and in place. She does look adorable in her hats now.

We are extremely blessed to have this much support. This whole process has brought us closer to our friends and family and renewed our faith. All your thoughts and prayers are appreciated and have helped to heal Claire and us too. It’s amazing to hear how far her story has traveled so quickly and to hear the encouraging stories of other children that have gone through the same type of heart issues. Her progress and strength still continue to amaze the doctors. Thanks again for all the support.
