Little baby Claire at 10 days old was so strong that all night she coughed and fussed and at 6:00 am she pulled out her ventilation tube. At first Chad was sleeping in the room and a little freaked out when all the doctors and nurses came running into our room. She had been breathing over the ventilator on her own for a few days and must have gotten fed up with having the tubing in her mouth. She had her EEG test early this morning, a chest ultrasound, a second head ultrasound, and a third Echo Cardiogram. A neurologist stopped by and was much more positive, he said that her results from her head ultrasound were consistent with her MRI and that no further damage has been done. Her EEG results measured that her brain output was strong and there was no suppression.

Also- sorry afterthough! We had Dr. Hammel as our surgeon. We also know Dr. Duncan. They are both amazing. Claire's cardiologist is Dr.Gumbiner, we have seen all of the cardiologist, and they are great. Thank god for Children's. Also, it sounds like your Claire has quite the strong personality! My family hasn't stopped praying for you. My son Luke touched her picture on the computer yesterday and asked God to heal her. God will heal her and make this a faded memory one day as you get to watch her grow. She is very beautiful- and very blessed.

Greetings and prayers from South Dakota! We heard about Claire's story from my sister Vicki who works with Mindy. We are following Claire's story closely as we were in your shoes about 7mos ago. Our baby Molly at 2 mos began exhibiting similar symptoms except that she was experiencing rapid lung failure instead of renal failure. She also had a large VSD that required immediate open heart surgery. I'll spare you all the details here in this post but I will tell you that Molly is now a big fat happy baby with not a care in the world!! It is hard to believe what she went thru! Claire is a fighter and she too will get thru this stronger than ever. You as her parents are strong and will be able to share this journey with her as she grows! Claire has already touched so many people's hearts--people she doesn't even know--that she is truly destined for greatness!! You will all come thru this stronger than ever with faith that will move mountains! I know what you mean when you say you feel like this isn't happening to you--very surreal--

I am so happy to hear Claire is doing better...she has been in our prayers, as have both of you and your families. We are going to try to come up and visit tomorrow (we'll call first, to make sure it is a good time). We love you, ad we can't wait to meet your beautiful baby girl!
